64 Player Tournament

General Information for The Gobbler tournament

The Gobbler continues the tradition of providing a tournament that is designed for the low to mid level player who wants to play in a large tournament against players at the same ability as themselves.  The Gobbler wants to thank the team at Brewlands North that provides such great support and for their donation of $750 to the prize fund  for a full field.   This year The Gobbler will only use Fargo Ratings for entries and not all leagues.

Tournament Format

  • Tournament will run using 1 board of 64 players.  1 side loss winner must defeat winner side hot seat player for two matches to win the tournament.  No Splitting prize money at the end unless tournament director approves.

  • 8 on the break and scratch the person not breaking has the option to  spot the 8 and continue shooting or they may re-rack and break the balls.

Player Eligibility

  • Players must have a Fargo Rating of 500 or less at the time they register.  (If your Fargo Rating increases above 509 after the registration you will be given a refund of your registration fee.)

  • Fargo Rating will be verified by the Tournament Director by looking online at Fargo Rate website.

  • Minimum Robustness is 150 games as per Fargo Website on November 10th, 2023.  &5 of these games must be within the last 12 months of play.

  • Fargo Ratings assigned at tournament registration will be used for the entire tournament and will not be adjusted unless it is grossly apparent that the rating needs to be adjusted.  It is the players responsibility to inform the tournament director of the players highest and most accurate Fargo Rating.  Any player caught using a rating that is not deemed to be accurate by the Tournament Director may be disqualified.

  • Tournament Results will be sent to Fargo Rate.

Races/Race Chart

The Gobbler will use the Fargo Rate R5 Hot chart to determine the number of games a player must win to win their match.  Here is how you determine what the race will be:  Player A is a 425 and Player B is a 300.  That is a difference of 125 (425-300=125).  According to the R5 Hot Chart a difference of 125 means a 6 -3 race

Raffles

The Polk County USA Pool League uses The Gobbler to help raise money every year to purchase toys for "Toys for Tots".  This year we are adding a Calcutta Auction to the tournament and we are going to donate 5% of the prize fund from the Calcutta to our fund to purchase toys.  We will once again be doing our 50/50 raffle with 50% of that prize going to a lucky winner and the other 50% going to our fund to purchase toys for Toys for Tots.  We will also be raffling off a choice of 2 pool cues.  All players will receive 1 entry into our Door Prize giveaways.  If you bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots you will receive an additional 10 extra tickets for the giveaways.  The Giveaways this year include Gobbler Event T-shirts, USA Pool League T-Shirts, a Hoodie from our apparel selection, goody bags, USAPL hats and 8 turkeys.  The turkeys come packed in a freezer bag and ice so they will make the trip back home with you with no problems.
